A: The COSMEDERM SKIN SCIENCE™ in-office peel is a 50%
(pH 1.2) glycolic acid peel that works to diminish the appearance
of fine lines and wrinkles, and improves skin texture and
tone, with little or none of the irritation normally associated
with cosmetic chemical peels.

A: COSMEDERM-7™ is the trade name for strontium salt
compounds that have been shown to minimize or eliminate sensory
irritation (stinging, burning, itching).

A: Strontium nitrate is a naturally occurring salt that has
been shown to have anti-irritant properties. COSMEDERM-7™
is the trade name for the compound strontium nitrate and was
developed by Cosmederm Technologies.

Q: What does COSMEDERM-7™ do?
A: This clinically proven anti-irritant minimizes the discomfort
(itching, burning and stinging) that usually accompanies high-acid
level facial peels. However, COSMEDERM-7™ is not a topical
anesthetic and does not work by "numbing" a patient’s
skin during treatment.
Clinical studies show that COSMEDERM-7™ in the COSMEDERM
SKIN SCIENCE™ 50% glycolic acid peel reduces sensory
irritation (stinging, burning, itching) by an average of 77%.

Q: How does COSMEDERM-7™ improve the efficacy of
products?
A: COSMEDERM-7™ allows products to be formulated with
the highest concentrations of active ingredients that would
otherwise be too irritating for consumer use. Alpha-hydroxy
acids, for example, produce the most substantial "anti-aging"
effects when they have both a high concentration and low pH
(high acidity) — a combination that can be highly irritating.
COSMEDERM-7™ allows AHA products to have such optimal
conditions, thus producing the highest level of efficacy and

30 minutes. Following treatment, most clients immediately
resume their normal activities.

A: Following treatment, most clients immediately resume their
normal activities. Most clients report that their skin feels
softer and smoother. Most post-peel redness is slight and
can be covered with makeup. Some clients may experience slight
skin flaking in the few days following the peel treatment,
but it is not necessary to see flaking skin for the peel to
be effective.
